We use a read-only service principal with the minimum permissions required (Reader role) to access your Azure cost and resource data. We never create, modify, or delete any of your Azure resources. You can revoke access at any time by removing the service principal from your Azure Active Directory.

FinOps Beacon uses either delegated Microsoft consent or a read-only Azure service principal and does not create, modify, or delete Azure resources. Application secrets and delegated refresh credentials are encrypted before database storage, access is tenant-scoped, and the production service uses HTTPS and restricted database access. The manual service-principal method remains available when an organization cannot use delegated consent.
